01 / DATA WAREHOUSING
Make Oracle data ready for dependable reporting
A useful warehouse does more than collect data. It organizes, validates and prepares information so people can understand it—and access it efficiently when needed.
- Start with the questions your organization needs to answer, then define the reporting measures, descriptive information, what each record represents, and how the information fits together.
- Bring data from operational systems into consistent reporting structures, with clear definitions and the history needed to understand changes over time.
- Simplify reporting through selective denormalization—bringing frequently used information together to reduce complex joins and processing bottlenecks, while respecting the integrity and business rules behind the original application design.
- Prepare calculations and reporting structures in advance where useful, so reports can use ready information rather than repeat expensive processing.
- Make that preparation dependable with Oracle SQL/PLSQL processing that validates data, records its origins, logs activity and supports controlled recovery.
- Plan reporting performance, processing windows, growth and maintenance together, so the warehouse remains practical to operate.
- Connect the solution with Python and OCI where they support integration, automation, deployment and application access.
Experience behind the work: At Blue Shield of California, I built ETL processes between the CaseTrakker SQL Server CRM and an Oracle reporting warehouse. I enriched Care Management information with related member and medical data drawn from Blue Shield’s enterprise systems, which supported a population of approximately three million members. I developed reporting metrics and transformations, built quarterly employer-reporting data cubes from a large claims system, and helped build Medi-Cal care-management reporting and data exchange. At Wells Fargo, I maintained and improved CRM warehouse processing, tuned SQL views and materialized results where useful to avoid repeating expensive query work.
What your team receives: a documented warehouse design, repeatable processing, tested reporting data, and installation and operating guidance. I can build directly with Oracle SQL/PLSQL and Python, without requiring proprietary warehouse-generation or ETL tools. This keeps processing logic explicit, reviewable and under your team’s control. AI-assisted development accelerates delivery; I retain responsibility for design, testing and validation.
